Poland has played in 7 World Cup Final Tournaments. Having qualifyied for the first time in 1938
it was not until 1974 that Poland returned. That year they were the surprise team winning 3rd place. In 1982 they captured 3rd place again and in 1986
qualified for the fourth time in a row. However, it took 16 years for the Polish team to return to the World Cup. Their performance in 2002 was below expectations after being the first team from Europe to qualify.
In 2006 Poland did not fare well either and they failed to qualify for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
