England vs Wales – Betting Preview

It was never going to be the kind of tournament that outshines the men’s edition, but thus far, the Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland has been a pretty great watch. The majority of nations that arrived have been able to showcase the best version of themselves across the first few games and now, we’ve arrived at the final matchday as teams begin to scramble for a place in the knockouts.

Today, we’re going to be talking about a local rivalry that has the potential to be just as good, if not better, than the male equivalent that we saw at Euro 2016. We are, of course, talking about England vs Wales, pitting two teams against one another who have very different priorities and very different expectations for these 90 minutes.

So, whether you’re looking for a Caesars Sportsbook promo code or you just want to know a bit more about the game, we’re here to break down how we believe this is all going to play out.

England

England are the defending champions, and they were tipped as one of the favourites behind Spain when the bookmakers first got talking about Euro 2025. Alas, after a defeat to France in their opening game, a few eyebrows were raised about their ability to compete with the truly elite. Thankfully for their fans, those worries were quickly washed away when they annihilated the Netherlands in their second outing.

As for Wales, the story for them has always been simply qualifying for the tournament. They always knew it was going to be a massive uphill battle to get out of the group and so far, they’ve proven why. They lost 3-0 to the Dutch before being handed a 4-1 battering by France and because of that, they have been all but eliminated from proceedings.

Alas, football is a funny old game, and they’ll know that they can play the role of spoiler here. This isn’t quite a David vs Goliath tale but it certainly has elements of that to the story, and while the Lionesses have essentially been handed the win already by the media, we anticipate a tense and nervy affair that is going to come down to the wire.

Wales

This will need to be a strong defensive display from the Welsh if they’re going to stand any chance of winning, and we believe they’re going to walk a fine line between strategic play and moments of counter-attacking magic. Whether or not they can pull that off remains to be seen but given the stakes, we believe they’re going to surprise a lot of people.

England, meanwhile, are well aware of what they need to do – win. It doesn’t have to be pretty, and it doesn’t have to be a masterclass like it was against the Netherlands, but they just need to go out there and live up to their title as favourites.

We think England will eventually take the lead in the second half before being pegged back from a set piece mistake, only to run away with it in the final 10-15 minutes of the game.

Official prediction: England 3-1 Wales
