Leading the Premier League to boot with just 10 matches left to play this season in the domestic league, Liverpool added to their trophy cabinet this afternoon in London, with van Dijk finally finding the net deep into extra time against Chelsea, heading home from a corner – after seeing an earlier effort ruled out for offside.

Following their Carabao Cup success – their second in the last three seasons against London side, Chelsea, Liverpool have now seen their odds of landing the FA Cup slashed as low as +350 – sat just behind holders, Manchester City.

And fans of the Merseyside club can find odds on a host of matches still to play this year over at the Promoguy – who are offering bettors and punters alike the opportunity to bet on a host of competitions and sports before the summer break this season.

Fighting off a late surge from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side, Liverpool had to call on Irish goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher on numerous occasions – particularly late in the 90 minutes, with the shot stopper preventing midfielder Conor Gallagher finding the net in a guilt edge chance.

Facing a massive battle to prevent the dominant side of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City from fighting back to clinch a record-setting fourth straight Premier League crown, Liverpool’s chances of landing just their second Premier League title were greatly enhanced this week with a 4-1 win over promoted side, Luton Town at Anfield in their most recent league match.

Furthermore, with German head coach, Jürgen Klopp set to depart the dugout at the end of the season, added emphasis is on the Liverpool players to deliver further success for the departting manager this season, in the form of a potential domestic cup double and a Premier League win.

With Klopp set to leave Liverpool come the end of the season, high-flying Spaniard, Xabi Alonso is said to be top of the Merseyside club’s list of managerial targets to replace the former, as he looks to guide German side, Bayer Leverkusen to a stunning Bundesliga title victory this season.

Amongst the likes of former Liverpool midfield maestro, Alonso sees Sporting Lisbon head coach, Ruber Amorin, as well as former Bayern Munich and Red Bull Leipzig head coach, Julan Nagelsmann, who has taken the reigns with the German national team ahead of the European Championships this summer, following his exit from the Allianz Arena.

As far as this season is to play out, however, Liverpool take on Championship side, Southampton following prior third and fourth round wins over Norwich City, and Arsenal, respectively.

In the league, Liverpool return to action on Saturday as they travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forrest.

London side, Chelsea are reportedly edging closer in recent hours to a stunning double-swoop for Southampton midfielder, Romeo Lavia, as well as Crystal Palace wideman, Michael Olise – reportedly meeting the minimum fee release clause of the latter with a £35,000,000 bid overnight.

The side, who hired former Spurs and Paris Saint Germain head coach, Mauricio Pochettino earlier this year, got their Premier League campaign underway over the weekend against Liverpool, holding the Jurgen Klopp side to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, with an equaliser from new signing, Axel Disasi cancelling out an opener from Colombia forward, Luis Diaz.

And earlier this week, the two-time UEFA Champions League winners agreed a British transfer record deal, reportedly worth upwards of £115,000,000 with Brighton & Hove Albion, to side Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo, beating out the aforementioned Liverpool in a summer-long transfer saga for the highly-touted midfield controller.

Enjoying a stunning transfer spend – close to an eye-watering billion pounds output in the last three transfer windows, 9 Pots of Gold would likely prove a cheaper option in purchasing for the London side’s funds provider, Todd Boelhy.

Offloading a shed load of players this summer ahead of a massive transfer overhaul for Argentine head coach, Pochettino, Chelsea have brought in notable names such as Malo Gusto, Robert Sanchez, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Christopher Nkunku, as well as the previously mentioned, Caicedo.

And amid reports of continued spending this summer, the London side have struck an agreement to sign Belgian prospect, Lavia from Championship returners, Southampton, set to complete a deal in the region of £58,000,000 for the former Manchester City youth academy star.

Hot on the heels of an arrival of Lavia to Stamford Bridge could come in the form of the highly-sought-after winger, Michael Olise, whom himself has been linked with a move to Manchester City to replace Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez, although reports suggest Pep Guardiola’s side will continue in their pursuit of Rennais wideman, Jérémy Doku.

Sidelined through injury, Olise, 21, underwent a surgical procedure to address a hamstring injury sufffered while on international duty with France.

The London-born forward had been slapped with a minimum fee release clause of £35,000,000 by Crystal Palace, having arrived from Reading back in 2021 in a deal worth in the region of £8,000,000.

Returning to action this week in their sophomore Premier League outing of the summer, Chelsea feature at Stamford Bridge this Friday night, taking on division newcomers Luton Town – with the latter attempting to land a shocking upset victory in London after a 4-1 trashing away to Brighton in their Premier League opener last weekend.

Hoping to improve on a torrid Premier League season last campaign, Chelsea went through a spell of three separate managers, including current Bayern Munich head coach, Thomas Tuchel, as well as former Brighton boss, Graham Potter, as well as former player and fan-favorite, Frank Lampard, who made a brief return to the side in a caretaker role after another prior spell as manager.

Chelsea favorites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo amid explosive interview trashing Manchester United https://soccerballworld.com/chelsea-favorites-to-sign-cristiano-ronaldo-amid-explosive-interview-trashing-manchester-united/ Wed, 16 Nov 2022 14:21:12 +0000 https://soccerballworld.com/?p=2649

English Premier League side, Chelsea have emerged as the favored side to coax Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo from an almost certain exit from league rivals, Manchester United in the January transfer window, after an explosive interview with Piers Morgan outlined the veteran’s problem with the club, manager, Erik ten Hag, and executives.

Ronaldo, who has since left the Old Trafford side to link up with his Portugal national side teammates ahead of next week’s FIFA World Cup return, featured in a sitdown with the aforenoted News of the World alum, Morgan, in a scatching interview, trashing United, current boss, ten Hag, as well as the seemingly dated infrastructure at the club.

The recent explosive interview falls on the back of a series of disappointing performances for the side this season under ten Hag, with Ronaldo infamously demoted from senior team training after he refused to make a substitute appearance in a win over Tottenham Hotspur back in October

Handed the captaincy for a visit to Villa Park in the absence of Portuguese teammate, Bruno Fernandes, Ronaldo’s most recent, and likely last outing for the Red Devils came in that 3-1 defeat, with the 37-year-old left out of the matchday squad for wins over Aston Villa and then a visit to Fulham.

Following the emergence of Ronaldo’s incendiary interview with Morgan, odds have been slashed on his exit from Old Trafford in either the form of a contract termination, or a January move.

In what appears to be the bet of the day football, Chelsea are backed to pursue a move to the serial UEFA Champions League victor, Ronaldo in the January transfer window, with the Graham Potter side available as short as 4/1 to land the Portuguese native. You can bet on Ronaldo’s future over at Vulkanbet Sports betting.

A return to boyhood club, Sporting Lisbon is also a potential next destination for Ronaldo, with the capital side available even shorter at 3/1 to resign the former before February 3.

Linked with a potential move to the aforenoted Chelsea, as well as Napoli and Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window to boot, the Italian side are currently priced as high as 12/1 to sign Ronaldo, while Diego Simeone’s side, who have fallen into the UEFA Europa League, are available at 25/1.

Bookmakers also see a potential return to Real Madrid as arguably the longest shot for Ronaldo, with a Santiago Bernabeu comeback priced as high as 50/1 on most markets.

Away from club football, Ronaldo is set to lead EURO 2016 winners, Portugal into the FIFA World Cup in Qatar next week, featuring in a group alongside Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea.

With Brazil current betting favorites to land the Coupe du Monde come December, Portugal, who featured three Manchester United players in the form of Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, and of course, Ronaldo, are sitting as severe outsiders to land their first FIFA World Cup – at 14/1.
